About the Course

For nearly a decade, the CICSC has been providing a critical two-day course tailored for first responders. Titled "Understanding Jurisdiction on Tribal Lands: A User-Friendly PL 280," this comprehensive training program is meticulously crafted to equip participants with a profound understanding of the historical, cultural, and legal intricacies involved in effective collaboration with tribal governments and communities for the successful implementation of public safety measures.

The course delves into crucial subjects, encompassing Domestic Violence (DV) and Tribal Protection Orders, Public Safety Concerns, the Historical Context of PL 280, and Sovereignty.

These invaluable training sessions are available in various locations, including tribal lands and law enforcement training centers, and are conducted by a team of highly skilled and experienced experts, including former and current tribal and non-tribal law enforcement and legal professionals. This training opportunity falls under POST CCN 1278-23193-19-002.
