This year, CLIMB selected Rachel Jackson as the recipient of our 2023 CLIMB Outstanding Student Leadership Award (aka the James R. Meindl Student Leadership Award). Once again, the award was generously sponsored by Emilie and Mark Hersh.

Rachel held leadership positions throughout her life, serving as captain for the field hockey and softball teams in high school, served as a mentor to many young women as a new member experience coordinator, interned at Thermo Fisher Scientific and helped build and execute a four-week minority mental health awareness campaign for the African heritage business resource group, all the while maintaining a 4.0-point GPA in every semester.

One of the faculty members who nominated her observed, “She is an enthusiastic, articulate, and charismatic speaker who has a strong sense inspirational students to graduate from CSUSM.”  Rachel was also president of the Management society at CoBA. Of her role, a fellow office bearer said, “Through countless pitches, tabling events, and society meetings, Rachel has consistently demonstrated her ability to connects with everyone ranging from students, faculty, and business professionals alike.”

Throughout her years at CSUSM, she has been a great role model for CoBA students.
