The Asian & Pacific Islander & Desi American (APIDA) Success Initiative strives to inspire and prepare all students for success at CSUSM with care and support. For our low-income, first-generation, and returning students - we are here.
As a Vietnamese American transfer student from San Diego, I've connected with students, faculty, and staff who have become endless supporters in my educational and extracurricular journeys. I encourage students to join clubs on campus to meet new people who will ultimately be a part of their own lifelong journeys.
Students choose CSUSM with minimal college advising, academic challenges in high school, units transferred from community college, caregiving responsibilities, military experience, and workforce employment or self-employment. CSUSM is proudly a first-choice university guided by student priorities for holistic success!
CSUSM offers practical curricula - often with ties to community and industry - and inspires all students to discover and pursue their career aspirations.

New Hires to Boost Success of APIDA, American Indian Students
Communities that Care
Staying on the path to earn a college degree often takes twists and turns. Sometimes one sees them coming, like the stress of an upcoming final project for a class, and at other times, school and life blindsides us. The tenacity to achieve that degree can feel unending. Being in community - for a moment or longer span of time - we can get there! A "growth mindset" takes time and support from communities like the ones below.
