Discover CSUSM Volunteer Form and Information

The Office of Recruitment and Outreach invites you to join us as we host Discover CSUSM on Saturday, Oct. 14! Discover CSUSM is our annual Fall Open House where we showcase what CSUSM has to offer to prospective high school seniors and colleges transfers who are ready to apply to college. 

The format of the event will be different from previous years:

  • Focus will be on resources needed to apply to CSUSM.
  • An application workshop will be held throughout the event to help students troubleshoot any issues they may have during the application process.
  • High school seniors will have the opportunity to be "admitted on the spot."
  • Family Weekend will be held during Discover CSUSM, which is held for current first-year students and their support systems and hosted by New Student Family Programs.
  • Volunteer Duties and Sign Up

    In order to volunteer for DiscoverCSUSM, please complete the DiscoverCSUSM Volunteer Form below. Please note that the form will cover all of the following:

    • Directional Assistance/Greet Guests
    • Check-In (General Registeration / Appointments)
    • Information Booth
    • Inform Presenters about time left during a session
    • Run Photo Opportunity Area
    • Setup
    • TearDown

    Once you complete the Participant form, you will receive a confirmation email. Logistical information will be emailed to the email address noted on the form by Monday, October 12, end of day. 

  • Volunteer Check-in and Break Area

    Additional check-in information for DiscoverCSUSM Participants will be posted and emailed the week of DiscoverCSUSM.

    Check-in and check-out will be at the Welcome Center which is near Cougar Central (Administrative Building, third floor). The Welcome Center will be used as the Volunteer Break Room and you will be allowed to leave any personal belongings in here. Please note that anything you leave in this room will be unsupervised and it is recommended to leave all valuables at home.

    Please note that assignments are subject to change during down time and you can float to an area where your help is needed. 

  • Volunteer Parking

    Parking: Lots E, F B, C, X, Y, or Z.

    Guests will be parking in Parking Structure 1 and Buses will be parking in Lot N. 

  • Attire, What to Bring

    Attire: Blue CSUSM shirt or CSUSM staff polo, appropriate bottoms (no holes), and comfortable shoes. 

    The event is rain or shine so please plan accordingly for the weather. Please make sure to bring a refillable water bottle, apply sunscreen, and wear a hat if you are scheduled outdoors.
