I am a professor of linguistics in the Liberal Studies Department at CSU San Marcos.  Working in an interdisciplinary department has allowed me to broaden my research and teaching interests, as well as my understanding of what linguistics can do and how it is indispensable to education.

My research interests include phonology and theoretical implications of sound patterns found across languages, linguistic universals and typology, morphology, bilingual first language acquisition; practical applications of linguistics to teaching K-12 students, heritage language acquisition and maintenance.
