The symposium will feature California State University Trustee Wenda Fong and Chancellor Mildred García, alongside an inspiring lineup of students, alumni, faculty, university Presidents, and leading experts in social mobility.

“The speakers were dynamic and extremely motivating. Often you have a few speakers who really shine at these kinds of events. With the Social Mobility Symposium nearly every speaker was top quality. I was moved by their stories and motivated by their calls to action.”  – Symposium Attendee 2023

In Their Words: Reflections from Symposium Attendees

Speaker at podium

Attending the [Symposium] at [CSUSM] offered me a unique opportunity to engage with thought leaders focused on how higher education can be a driving force for upward social mobility. The symposium is a testament to the transformative power of higher education in changing lives and uplifting entire communities and continues to center how we can improve access and outcomes for those who are not being effectively served.

The most impactful aspects of the symposium were the incredible insights from Dr. Vargas and the powerful panel discussions. Dr. Ardoin's research data stood out as particularly inspiring, along with the voices of the students and the wisdom shared by the president's panel.
