Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) & Advanced Credential Programs

Admissions Deadline

We are now accepting Spring 2018 applications for the Master of Arts in Education-General option and Master of Arts in Education-Special Education option. All application materials must be submitted by 5pm PST on Tuesday, October 31, 2017


How to Apply

Applying to the School of Education is a two-part process. Part one of the application process is to apply to CSUSM through a system called Cal State Apply.  Part two of the application is to complete the PDF Supplemental Application to the School of Education.

Part One: CSUSM Graduate Application – Cal State Apply

  1. Access the CSUSM Graduate Application through Cal State Apply.
  2. Select the button to create an account.
  3. Follow the screens to complete and submit the application. Be sure to select Spring 2018 as the term you intend to start the program. If needed, refer to our Cal State Apply Instructions sheet for step-by-step instructions.
  4. Submit the $55 application fee
  5. Once you successfully submit the application, you will receive an automated email confirmation from the Cal State Apply system.

Part Two: School of Education Supplemental Application

Download and complete the appropriate School of Education PDF Supplemental Application below by selecting the link of the specific program you are applying to:

- Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) – General Option

- Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) – Special Education Option

Submit the completed Supplemental Application with supporting documentation by:

Admission into programs leading to licensure and credentialing does not guarantee that students will obtain a license or credential.  Licensure and credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, licensure or credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., social security number or tax payer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check.  Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet licensure or credentialing requirements.  The CSU will not refund tuition, fees, or any associated costs, to students who determine subsequent to admission that they cannot meet licensure or credentialing requirements.
