Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) & Advanced Credential Programs

How to Apply

Applying to the School of Education is a two-part process. Part one of the application process is to apply to CSUSM through a system called Cal State Apply.  Part two of the application is to complete the PDF Supplemental Application to the School of Education.

Part One: CSUSM Graduate Application – Cal State Apply

  1. Access the CSUSM Graduate Application through Cal State Apply.
  2. Select the button to create an account.
  3. Follow the screens to complete and submit the application. Be sure to select Fall 2018 as the term you intend to start the program. If needed, refer to our Cal State Apply Instructions sheet for step-by-step instructions.
  4. Submit the $55 application fee
  5. Once you successfully submit the application, you will receive an automated email confirmation from the Cal State Apply system.

NOTE: You will NOT be required to upload documents into Cal State Apply as you will submit those materials along with the School of Education Supplemental Application.

Part Two: School of Education Supplemental Application

  1. Access and fill out the School of Education Supplemental Application.
  2. Submit the following documents:
  • Statement of Purpose describing interest in program as well as how the program fulfills persona, educationa and career objectives.
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation
  • Verification of Valid California Teaching Credential
  • Official Transcripts from all Postsecondary Institutions attended

Admission into programs leading to licensure and credentialing does not guarantee that students will obtain a license or credential.  Licensure and credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, licensure or credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., social security number or tax payer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check.  Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet licensure or credentialing requirements.  The CSU will not refund tuition, fees, or any associated costs, to students who determine subsequent to admission that they cannot meet licensure or credentialing requirements.
