The University Commons building was built as part of the first infrastructure at Cal State San Marcos. This building houses many student organization meeting spaces, as well as the University Bookstore, Cougar Corner Convenience Store and the Big Cat Food Court. Originally the building only had approximately 3,000 square feet of cafeteria seating indoors, but later an outdoor seating area was added.
