Mission

The mission of the Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) is:

• to cultivate equity and belonging for Black faculty and staff
• to strengthen, support and promote community with students
• to advocate for diversity and inclusion in academia

Purpose

The purpose of the Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) is to promote cultural awareness and provide unwavering support for the success of our Black faculty and staff providing them with the most positive experience possible while at Cal State San Marcos. We are committed to advancing the future of our university by focusing on five priorities that directly impact faculty and staff:

1. Professional Excellence and Development
2. Supportive Work Environment
3. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Employment
4. Positive Campus Climate
5. Collaborative Community Engagement

Through these five concentrations, we hopefully create opportunities that enhance the overall experiences of Black faculty and staff, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for all faculty, staff, and students.
