IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: New Changes to DACA
Dear CSUSM community members,
As we continuously aim towards finding ways to support and uplift each other during these challenging times and strive for transparency and honesty with you all, it is with a heavy heart that we bring to your attention a recent update regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program.
On June 18, 2020, the Supreme Court ruled that the proper steps were not taken by the current administration to rescind DACA. Although the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was not questioned with regards to their authority to rescind DACA, it was stated that they had left out many crucial details to back up the reasons for why they feel DACA should be rescinded and that these issues had to be addressed.
As a result of that Supreme Court decision, and as many of us had expected, there was a response and an adjustment to the initial request to rescind DACA.
On July 28, 2020, the DHS announced that they will take this time to continue to adjust and review their initial intent to rescind DACA in order to determine if the program will be completely terminated or not. In the meantime, the following updates and actions to the DACA Program will be enforced immediately:
We know that on the surface this announcement brings confusion, discouragement, and fearful feelings, however, as we have been shown time and time again, it is in the face of fear and discouragement that change takes place. We have always known that DACA was not a permanent solution, however, the program has created the foundation and inspiration to take action and push towards advocacy for the establishment of legislation that can offer a pathway to citizenship!
As we wait to hear the final decision on behalf of DHS with regards to the future of DACA, the Dreamer Resource Office wants to provide you with support and resources during these times of uncertainty.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Supreme Court makes Decision on DACA
The CSUSM DREAMer Resource Office celebrates with our DACAmented and undocumented community today as the Supreme Court issued a positive decision that allows for the continuance of the DACA program. We recognize the uncertainty of the program over the last few years has weighed especially heavily on our DACAmented students and employees, other undocumented students, students from mixed-status families, and their allies. We want to express continued support of our students, faculty and staff. We see you, stand with you, and we are committed to ensuring your success at CSUSM.
President Neufeldt, the DREAMer Resource Office, as well as university and community leaders provide a debrief of the decision and the possible impacts on the DACAmented and Undocumented community.
