Dr. Nahid Majd is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Information Systems Department at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM). Dr. Majd received her PhD in Computer Science from New Mexico State University in May 2014 and joined CSUSM in August 2014 as an Assistant Professor. She is engaged in research and teaching in the areas of computer networks, machine learning, deep learning, cryptography, cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, network security, emerging networked systems including cyber-physical systems, Internet-of-Things, and decentralized networks.

Dr. Ari Edmundson received his PhD in History from UC Berkeley in May, 2019. Ari's research has focused on the intellectual history of European philosophy, social, political and legal theory, cybernetics, systems theory, and critical theory. His current work investigates how to use critical theory to conceptualize the history of sociotechnical power in the contemporary "datafied world," with particular attention to questions of ethics, justice, rhetoric and epistemology. Since January 2018, Ari has helped teach and develop curriculum for the Human Contexts and Ethics of Data program in Data Science Undergraduate Studies at UC Berkeley. He co-developed and co-teaches Data C104: Human Contexts of Data, Data 4AC: Data and Justice, and a small STS research seminar. He is currently a Lecturer in the Data Science Undergraduate Studies in the Division of Computing, Data Science, and Society.

Dr. Eli Groban is a Senior Director of User Experience and Innovation at Thermo Fisher Scientific.  He brings a unique background to the discussion as he is a scientist by training.  He has a Ph.D. in Computational Biophysics and a B.A. in Chemistry and has experience leading R&D teams in biotechnology companies and software product teams in software organizations.  In his current role, he continues to innovate at the intersection of science and technology, by leading a machine learning team that works to support product development efforts across the company.  Eli has written multiple scientific papers, and holds multiple patents, on subjects ranging from microbiology to software in the biology space.

Dr. Mikee Inton-Campbell is a trans academic and activist from the Philippines. She earned her PhD in Cultural Studies at Lingnan University, under the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship scheme. Her work centered on representations of queerness in Philippine and Southeast Asian cinema.  

As an activist, she served on the board of ILGA World – the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, as co-chair of the Trans Steering Committee, and currently sits on the Grant Making Panel of the International Trans Fund. She is also a board member of the Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines (STRAP), the first trans-focused advocacy organization in the Philippines.Her current book project titled The TransPilipinas Anthology is a collection of trans-themed essays, stories, and poetry written by trans and gender-diverse Filipinx authors and artists. Her other research interests include trans healthcare, sex work, and queer representations in popular culture.

Naomi Fantanos graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is a long-time advocate of the Filipino transgender, lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex, and queer (TLGBIQ) community and an advocate of feminism. In 2008, she became the first trans co-coordinator of Task Force Pride (TFP) Philippines, the official organizing network of the annual Metro Manila Pride March. She was part of the International Advisory Group of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) in reviewing the 7th Standards of Care (SOC), international clinical protocols for safe transitioning for trans people and part of the external peer review team of the World Health Organization (WHO) for its consolidated guidelines on HIV prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care for key populations in 2014. In 2015, she became the first trans Filipina to be a fellow of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the United States State Department on Preventing and Responding to Bias-Motivated Violence Against the LGBT Community. She is a co-founder and current Executive Director of Gender and Development Advocates (GANDA) Filipinas, a TLGBIQ human rights organization primarily focused on the issues, needs, and concerns of the trans community in the Philippines and beyond. In 2018, she was named a fellow of the Internet Freedom Festival (IFF) held at Valencia, Spain in March 2018. In 2020, she was named as one of GoMagazine's "100 Women We Love" and in 2021 was awarded as one of Quezon City's Iconic Women and named one of the Faces of Exchange in the Philippines by the IVLP. In 2022, she was also elected as the 1st nominee of LGBTQ Plus Partylist, a political party of TLGBIQ Filipinos that plans to run in the 2025 national elections in the Philippines. 

Danton Remoto was a Fulbright scholar at Rutgers University and a British Council scholar at the University of Stirling. He has attended the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference at Middlebury College in Vermont and the Cambridge University Summer Seminar in Literature. His latest book is Riverrun, A Novel, from Penguin Random House. He has also worked as Head of the School of English at the University of Nottingham and Head of Communications at the United Nations Development Programme. In 2003, he founded Ladlad (Coming Out) Political Party in the Philippines, and has helped write SOGIE bills that have become laws in several cities and towns in the Philippines. He currently lives in Manila but travels frequently to the United States and Asia.
