The Student Services Center is responsible for advising students who are interested in attending our teacher preparation programs and advanced credential/Masters options. We hold evening and daytime information sessions twice monthly and handle a large volume of walk-in and telephone inquiries on a daily basis. As a team, we are responsible for the admissions process which includes setting up and evaluating files, and facilitating the interview and acceptance process. Once accepted into a particular program, the Center team supports and monitors student registration, coursework, grades, and completion of program requirements. When the credential/masters student has completed their respective program and all the necessary requirements, the Center staff assists in the certification process. As agents of the state, our credential analysts evaluate and process the necessary paperwork to verify and credential each candidate.
It should be noted that many of our students come to us for a basic credential and return to us for added authorizations, advanced credentials and Masters Degrees. Because we operate as a Center, it is necessary to have only one student file and we are able access all database information through a shared server.
Currently, the Center is working on becoming a paperless operation. This process is being implemented gradually and meticulously. Eventually, (within the next two years) all student information/files will be housed electronically, all applications will be accepted on line, and all certification processing with the State will be done electronically.
