California State University San Marcos' School of Nursing seeks a part-time Clinical Nursing Instructor specializing in Obstetric Nursing in an in-patient setting for Summer 2013 term.  Clinical hours and clinical sites vary within San Diego County.  Demonstrated experience and expertise in obstetric nursing and family assessment theory in obstetrics, including: infants, childbearing women and families.

Coursework emphasizes developing skills in nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention toward achieving healthy outcomes for infants, childbearing women and their families.  Objectives will include

(1)  Performing complete assessments on patients while in an inpatient setting in a major hospital and/or in community based setting.
(2)  Assessment of infants and childbearing women, correctly identifying (a) normal and abnormal findings and (b) relevant diagnoses and collaborative problems.
(3)  Assessment of the psychosocial and learning needs of childbearing women and family members.
(4)  Anticipates potential common complications in infants and childbearing women by implementing appropriate preventative measures and assessments aimed at early detection.
(5)  Participates in coaching and comfort measures for infants, childbearing women and their families in and after childbirth.

Minimum qualifications for the position include:  An earned Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred and applicants with a BSN, currently working as a specialized obstetric nurse, may apply.  Applicants must have state licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing and be approved to teach in Obstetrics.
