Spam (Junk) Notification Email

Effective October 24th, all Exchange users will be receiving Spam Notification emails

This email will contain a list of emails that are considered spam. Users will have three options:

  • Release to Inbox
    • The email will be sent to your inbox, and you will be able to access it
    • Use caution here – if it is marked as spam, there is a good chance it is spam or phishing and may be malicious or harmful.
  • Report as "Not Junk"
    • Microsoft will be notified that the email is not spam and in the future, it will be sent directly to your inbox.
  • Leave everything as is
    • Those emails will continue to be considered spam.

Wording will look similar to the following:

spam-example

You can also view quarantined emails at any time by visiting https://admin.protection.outlook.com/Quarantine/ and logging in with CSUSM username (username@csusm.edu) and password. If you see any messages that should have been delivered, you can simply release them from the web interface.

By default, spam-quarantined messages are sorted from newest to oldest on the RECEIVED field. SENDER, SUBJECT, and EXPIRES values are also listed for each message. You can sort on any of these fields by clicking their headers. Clicking a column header a second time will reverse the sort order. A maximum of 500 messages can be displayed.
