The company Labster is dedicated to creating interactive lab augmented and virtual
The students will experience a real lab environment while sitting at home
or in a full theatre-style classroom. Topics include modules in Chemistry, Biochemistry,
Anatomy and Physiology, Criminology, and many more. Students can take quizzes, answer
questions all while playing a simulation that seems more like a game than a lab module.
There is no need for an actual lab with expensive equipment. Students can experience
their lab modules virtually. This innovative approach to teaching labs will help students
go through bottlenecks courses faster and have a better learning experience.
The Learning Glass is essentially a transparent whiteboard. A camera is aimed through
the glass while you write on it, so you're facing your audience while you're being
recorded. The glass you are writing on is side-lit by hundreds of small LED lights,
making the fluorescent marker ink bright and easy to read. The writing is flipped
horizontally, so you don't need to learn to write backwards. Just teach the way you
are used to teaching, and we'll take care of the recording and processing and email
you a link. If yourteaching involves use of equations and diagrams, this is a great
way to go. We do the recordings in the Media Production studios on the second floor
of Kellogg Library.
WePresent technology helps students to go wireless, and contribute to the lectures
by sharing the contents of their phone, tablet, or computer with the entire class.
In fact, up to four students can be sharing their content wirelessly from their devices
on one screen at a time. The Academic Success Center (ASC) here at CSUSM has helped
use this innovative technology to have faculty bring in student groups to collaborate
on projects and conduct presentations. But the innovating doesn't stop there! Here
at CSUSM we put an entire interactive system on a rolling cart which includes a computer,
large 4K monitor, and the WePresent technology to travel with the faculty and staff.
Now, any room or classroom can turn into an active wireless environment where everyone
in the room can participate.
