The TBSN is an IMPACTED program. An undergraduate major is designated as impacted when the number of applications received from fully qualified applicants during the initial filing period exceeds the number of available spaces. Such majors are authorized to use supplementary admission criteria to screen applications. Transfer Applicants are rank-ordered pursuant to Supplemental Admission Criteria outlined on our website. Applicants MUST complete a Supplemental Application in order to be considered for the Nursing Major.
Transfer Applicants to the TBSN & LVN to BSN will be reviewed for admission to the alternate major of choice. Decisions for the TBSN & LVN to BSN major are not completed and communicated until July. Transfer Applicants should plan to submit thier Intent to Enroll and fee based on the alternate major of choice due to limited admissions into the TBSN & LVN to BSN. Applicants not accepted into the Nursing major by the start of the fall term will not be able to switch majors or apply to the impacted major at a later date.
Traditional BSN Program: The School of Nursing application period for entering our Fall program is Oct. 1 - Nov. 30. The Nursing application will be available on our School of Nursing web site during this application period. Our allocated funding from the State has limited us to admit only one cohort (40-44 seats) into this program each fall semester. Applicants are evaluated and rank-ordered by total admission points using Supplemental Admission Criteria. Please view the Statistics for our previously-admitted Traditional BSN cohorts to determine if you are competitive for admission to this highly-impacted program.
LVN-to-BSN Program: Students must apply online to the School of Nursing during the application period Oct. 1 - Nov. 30. We admit each fall semester for entry into this program. With the exception of military trained Corpsman, or applicants with equivalent military training/experience, LVN coursework must be displayed on a college/university transcript from a regionally-accredited institution; otherwise, you will need to prepare for entry to our Traditional BSN program or Accelerated BSN program, or try to get admitted to a California Community College LVN to RN program, and consider entering an RN to BSN or RN to MSN program. Please visit our LVN to BSN Program link for more information on admission requirements to this program.
Students interested in our RN-to-BSN, RN to MSN, and Accelerated BSN Programs: These programs are being offered through the University Office of Extended Learning. Please check the Extended Learning Web site for updates and further information about these programs.
