Cougar Job Shadow Program for Employers

Dear Employer:

The California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) Career Center invites you to participate in our first annual Cougar Job Shadow program occurring during January 2018 (January 16-19). Employer host applications for the Cougar Job Shadow Program will be accepted until October 23, 2017. To apply to participate in the program, please complete the online application at the link listed below.

The Cougar Job Shadow program is an experience beneficial to students and employer hosts alike. You will have an opportunity to gain recognition for your organization on the CSUSM campus by allowing students to preview daily activities. Students likewise will gain the opportunity to continue their career exploration by observing and learning industry insights from professionals.

The Cougar Job Shadow program is a low-risk commitment that takes place over a maximum of one day. Benefits to your organization include the ability to:

  1. Share insights that will enable students to better understand the skills and qualifications needed to succeed in your field.
  2. Build your organization’s brand on CSUSM’s campus.
  3. Develop a working relationship with the CSUSM Career Center.
  4. Give back and contribute to your profession.
  5. Identify potential students for internship opportunities, if offered by your organization.

We hope that this program will validate students’ career paths or encourage them to explore new ones.

If you are interested in learning more about the Cougar Job Shadow program, please review the attached Cougar Job Shadow Host Guide.

Once you have reviewed the Host Guide, please proceed with registering your organization to become a host by clicking here: Each department within your organization that wishes to host a student must complete a separate application (for example: Marketing and Information Technology would each fill out an application to participate). Please keep in mind that the deadline to register is October 23, 2017.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for supporting CSUSM students in their career development!
