Prepare yourself to graduate with a degree and a job. If you’re planning on graduating next year or this semester, are you prepared to leave
CSUSM and transition into full-time employment in your field? On the average, it takes about 6-9 months to land a full-time job, so start your search early!
- Learn about job opportunities and who is hiring through your professional network
or the career counselors at the Career Center.
- Attend job fairs and other recruitment events to connect with employers, recruiters,
and career professionals. Use Handshake to find CSUSM events.
- Throughout the year, the Career Center hosts a variety of workshops/webinars, which include How to Get Hired, Smart Job Search Strategies, Salary Negotiation, and more. Students can also learn from career professionals by participating in live interactive career panels.
- Meet and hear from our alumni about their journey and transition from CSUSM student
to career professional during an interactive event with students at Life After Graduation.
- Job Search Strategies – Most jobs are found through the connections you've made; utilize your network and/or
talk with a Career Counselor to develop a plan.
- Resume Development – Tailor your resume and cover letter to maximize your chances of getting an interview.
- Getting an interview is a major step to getting the job you want, so be prepared and learn the
most effective interview techniques and skills.
