As mandated by the state we report the amount of landfill waste produced by campus.
The peak was in 2004 when 1,400 tons of waste was sent to our local landfill. In efforts to become a more sustainable campus, since 2010 the campus has averaged less than 600 Tons per year. What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is in 2004 the campus population (FTE staff, faculty and students) was approximately 8,000 and has grown over time to just over 15,000 in 2017. Under the guidelines of our Sustainability Master Plan and our Zero Waste by 2025 goal we will continue to work collaboratively to reduce the amount of landfill waste our campus produces.
