Disposal Metrics

Student population increasing with tons of waste disposed of decreasing over time

Summary:

As mandated by the state we report the amount of waste produced by campus annually.

The amount of landfill material increased in 2016 by approximately 50 tons, but decreased in 2017. The campus successfully diverts a significant amount of material each year.  Diversion efforts include recycling, wood, metal, green waste (landscape debris), CDI (construction, demolition and inert material), e-waste, donation programs and pre-consumer composting. In 2018 our zero waste progamming is showing signs of effect as our numbers have decreased as our student population increases.

Under the guidelines of our Sustainability Master Plan and our Zero Waste by 2025 goal we will continue to work collaboratively with the campus community to reduce the amount of waste our campus produces.
