NURS 325 - Practicum: Nursing of Adults in the Acute Care Setting II

The School of Nursing at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an on-going basis for our pool of part-time lecturers for NURS 325 - Practicum: Nursing of Adults in the Acute Care Setting II. Clinical hours and clinical sites vary within San Diego County and Riverside County.   Salary is commensurate with credential and experience.

Course work emphasizes developing skills in nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention toward achieving healthy outcomes for medical, surgical and critical care patients. Objectives will include (1) Providing safe nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients and their families experiencing specific medical-surgical conditions involving disorders of the immune, respiratory, cardiovascular, hematologic, and nervous system, as well as sepsis, multi-organ failure, multi-system trauma, acute burn injury, and emergency/disaster preparedness, (2) Applying nursing theory and concepts while using the nursing process within the Self-Care framework to develop and implement nursing care plans for specific patients, (3) Practicing the role of the professional nurse with increasing skill in the acute care and critical care settings, and (4) Practicing roles of the professional nurse at increasing levels of responsibility and accountability. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • BSN
  • Must have either experience teaching medical-surgical nursing or have work experience in a medical-surgical area. 
  • Applicants must have State licensure by California Board of Registered Nursing, be approved to teach in Obstetric nursing and meet the School of Nursing’s requirements regarding current immunizations and CPR licensure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MSN or Ph.D. in Nursing
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
