Support Services

There are many departments across campus that are available to assist in the navigation of issues related to free speech, hate speech or other violations.

  • Civility Campaign
    Engages the campus community in social justice issues through self-reflection, care, respect and empathy while acknowledging the culture and humanity of others. The Civility program has a series of dialogues and Civility Cafes open the campus community on difficult conversations. Contact to learn more about upcoming events.
  • Cougar Care Network
    Provides information, connection to resources, advocacy and support for students dealing with personal, academic, financial or other challenges which may adversely affect their academic success and/or collegiate experience.  Students can be referred through self-referral or by a member of the campus community. 
  • Dean of Students

    Provides advocacy, care and support for students. Contact the Dean of Students if you have questions related to a demonstration, the Student Code of Conduct. Civility Program,  or are in need of support.

  • Office of Inclusive Excellence

    Works to advance a campus environment that values respect, diversity, equity, inclusivity and student success. Contact the OIE if you have concerns or have questions related to diversity and inclusive excellence.

  • Events and Conference Services
    Schedules and coordinates many campus events. Contact if you would like to host an event on campus. 
  • Student Health & Counseling Services
    Supports student health and wellness, and provides Health Education outreach activities. Contact to make an appointment or learn more about services. 
  • Student Leadership and Involvement Cetner
    Engages students in leadership opportunities including student organizations and fraternity and sorority life. Contact to learn about how to get involved on campus. 
  • Student Life Centers for Identity, Inclusion and Empowerment
    These Centers include the Black Student Center, Cross-Cultural Center, Gender Equity Center, Latinx Center, LGBTQA Pride Center and Veterans Services. 
  • Title IX and Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Office
    If you have experienced gender-based discrimination, harassment, sexual violence, or stalking, please contact the office for support.
  • University Ombuds
    The Office of University Ombuds is here to help current CSUSM faculty, staff and enrolled students resolve University-related conflicts, disputes or complaints on an informal basis.
  • University Police Department
    Helps maintain a safe academic environment. Contact UPD if you have concerns or questions about public safety. Call 911 if you are facing an immediate emergency.
