The Student Healthcare Project offers free, community based healthcare clinics throughout San Diego County. Run by licensed medical professionals and nursing undergraduates and graduate students, we serve the working poor, underinsured and uninsured residents of our community in a respectful and compassionate manner.
The Project has been designed to provide basic community and primary healthcare to the underserved in the communities of San Diego County. Care is provided by licensed professionals and CSUSM School of Nursing baccalaureate and graduate nursing students under the supervision of licensed volunteers (RNs, APRNs, physicians, and allied health providers) in collaboration with faculty and staff from CSUSM School of Nursing and UCSD School of Medicine.
Acute and chronic disease management and referral as well as disease prevention activities and prescription refills are offered. The volunteer staff and students assist clients in accessing other healthcare-related resources and provide personal hygiene products and clothing on a case by case basis.
