What does it mean to pursue a career in healthcare?

Healthcare is much more than diagnosing illnesses, treating patients, or working in a hospital or clinic. It is a broad, interconnected field dedicated to protecting and improving health, promote wellness, and ensure that individuals and communities have access to safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Healthcare careers encompass both clinical and nonclinical professions. Each playing an important role within the healthcare system.

How can CSUSM support you in your journey?

It is important to know that pre-med or pre-health, pre-dental, pre-PA, etc., are not majors. Pre-med/Pre-health students can choose from a range of different majors across campus. 

This Health Careers Resources website supports students as they explore graduate and professional programs in healthcare. It will help students plan out the standard prerequisite courses needed to apply to a specific healthcare profession program and will also help students think about how to get involved in extracurricular activities to be a well-rounded applicant in the future. Students can also connect with campus offices/resources to: get involved in research and service opportunities on-campus and in the broader community; and to guide students as they prepare for professional exams and the application process.
