Join the Department of Service Learning to connect, learn and reflect on the virtual Service Learning projects completed this past year. We invite students, community partners and faculty to nominate award recipients.
The Service Learning Showcase and Awards celebrates outstanding service-learning projects and trailblazers for their contributions to community engagement at CSUSM. In addition to poster presentations and monetary awards, the event provides space for students, faculty, staff, and community partners to network and foster future connections.
Student presenters that attend Reflective Poster Presentations workshop (with presentation outline) will have (up to 10 participants) their poster cost covered by the Department of Service Learning.

The deadline to RSVP is Friday, April 21st.
- Students - Apply to Present Your Service Learning Project at the Showcase!
Students apply to present your service learning community project individually or with your group at the provide 2023 Service Learning Showcase and Awards. The Showcase serves as an opportunity to highlight student’s engaged-learning and reflection on how their work benefits the common good.
- The first 10 people (individual or group) to Apply to Present at the Showcase will have their poster printed by the Department of Service Learning.
- Presenters are required to attend the Reflective Poster Presentation workshop, to assist in developing their poster and presentation notes.
- If you are not able to attend the Reflective Poster Presentation Workshop on April 25, email the Department of Service Learning to find a time to meet with a team member: servicelearning@csusm.edu

Trailblazing Student Leader of a Service Learning Course Project
- This award celebrates students who facilitate high-quality community-engaged work and recognizes meaningful partnership with community organizations. Faculty or Community Partners can nominate a student for this award.
- Faculty or Community Partners may nominate up to 2 students. Students can also nominate themselves or another student.
Outstanding Service Learning Faculty
- This award recognizes a CSUSM faculty member whose collaborative efforts within the University and community have resulted in exemplary service learning partnerships. The faculty member has also excelled at incorporating community voice into the design, implementation and evaluation of the service learning course and partnerships.
- The faculty member honored with this award will recieve $1,000 for their commitment to service learning.
- Students and Community Partners can nominate a Faculty Member for this award.
Stellar Service Learning Community Partner
- This award celebrates community partners that have longstanding partnership with the university and serve as co-educators with faculty to develop meaningful learning experiences for students connecting with community.
- Faculty or Students can nominate a Community Partner for this award.
The deadline to nominate candidates is Friday, April 21.
