CSUSM is Clearing The Air!

Clear the Air - use our tool

CSUSM is a smoke, vapor and tobacco free campus, contributing to our commitment to be a respectful, safe and healthy learning and working environment for all our faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

Hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide have already prohibited tobacco use—including the entire UC and CSU system—to address the risks to users and non-users alike. The Surgeon General has stated that tobacco use in any form presents a significant health hazard, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the California Environmental Protection Agency have determined that there is no safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke.

CSUSM is proud to be smoke and vapor free with the support of grants from the American Cancer Society/CVS Health Foundation, California Department of Public Health/California Youth Advocacy Network, and the Tobacco Related Disease Research Program. The California State University Chancellor’s Office issued a system-wide Executive Order (1108) for all CSU campuses to become 100 percent smoke and tobacco-free by September 2017. This policy was created in order to provide the California State University’s faculty, staff, students, guests and the public with campuses that support the principle of one’s individual freedom to learn, teach, work, think and take part in their intellectual endeavors in a fulfilling, rewarding, safe and healthy environment.

Through this website, you will find easy access to many smoke and tobacco cessation resources and proven strategies that will reduce smoke and tobacco use among students, faculty and staff.
