Unit 11 UAW Academic Student Employees

The Trustees of the California State University (CSU) recognize the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), AFL-CIO and its Local Union as the sole and exclusive representative of the bargaining unit (Unit 11) in accordance with the certification by the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) in petition number LA-RR-1099-H.

Summary of Bargaining Unit Positions

During the 2011-2012 academic year, Instructional Student Assistants were employed in the following departments: Accountancy & Finance, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer Science and Information Systems, History, Kinesiology, Literature and Writing, Management and Marketing, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology. Additionally, Instructional Student Assistants worked in the Computer Consulting Center, Language Learning Center, Math Lab and the Writing Center. Graduate Assistants were hired by the Computer Science and Information systems and Psychology departments. Teaching Associates were employed in the following departments: Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Literature and Writing Studies, Mathematics, Modern Languages and Psychology.

The classifications included in this unit are:

Instructional Student Assistants (1150, 1151 and all others that may apply)

Teaching Associates (2353 and 2354)

Graduate Assistants (2355, 2325 and 2326)
