My name is Caroline Adjimi and I am international student from Africa, specifically Cameroon. I have been in CSUSM since spring 2014 and just graduated with a BA in Psychology. I am back for more school as a graduate student in the MSW program. I am hoping to assist undergraduate students to reach their goal, and more importantly to help consider graduate studies. Having said that, I am willing to spend time with them discussing about problems both in class and at home that may be interfering with their studies, help them manage their time to fulfill their commitments, and find and create resources to facilitate student learning.

I was born in Oaxaca Mexico; I came to the United States four years ago in 2011. I have been exposed to many types of cultures from around the world. While taking some classes with students from other places in high school I came to comprehend other students point of view. Also I am the first generation in my family to attend to college, I could be a great example for new comer students who are also first generation students. I am a migrant student who struggled a lot in high school but make it into college, I faced racism, and a lot discrimination. I can give advise to those students who also faced those types of problems, and give them a helping hand to be successful throughout college.

Brenda Diaz

Brenda M. Diaz
Student Assistant

  • Junior
  • Major: Kinesiology
  • Nationality: Mexican-American

I like to think of myself as being friendly, outgoing, and at times outspoken when I need to be. My parents raised me to be myself and achieve great things, things they could not, and to be grateful of the simple things in life. Qualities such as these is what makes me so excited to help others in any way shape or form, especially helping those from “la misma raza!” Being enrolled in my third year here at CSUSM I can guide students through the university and inform them on tricks no one usually lets them in on. I love making new relationships and getting to meet new people so I think the Latin@ Center is the perfect place to find all that and more. I believe that I can be a good role model to anyone who is willing to admire a good role model, no one is perfect but we can all work on being greater.
