Impacting North County San Diego with innovative and outstanding local leaders
Participants include emerging leaders who want to better understand the region's challenges and opportunities.
Since its inception, Leadership North County (LNC) has inspired over 400 individuals to become part of the region's most outstanding citizen leaders including mayors, city officials, college administrators and business leaders.
Leadership 2000 started in 1986 and was led by Fran Aleshire who partnered with Major General Marc Moore, USMC (Ret.) with the hopes of creating a program that would address issues facing the region and develop working relationships within various cities. This objective required strong, ethical leaders who would bring about positive change.
Renamed to Leadership North County in 2001, the program was entrusted to CSUSM where it continues to operate today.
The Fran Aleshire Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding regional leader in North San Diego County who reflects the spirit and character of the late Dr. Fran Aleshire. Awardees must demonstrate that they are a catalyst for positive change in the region and has effected local policy resulting in positive change.
