Block Pre-Enrollment Information

Updated: February 27, 2025

Applicable Students

First time freshman (FTF) in categories 3 and 4 who need Math (Area 2) and/or English (Area 1A) requirements.
Note:
Students with holds or conflicts will not be pre-enrolled.

Goal

Pre-enroll category 3 & 4 students in the appropriate Area 2 &/or Area 1A support courses in the first year.

Scheduling

During schedule build, Academic Scheduling works with Math and Literature & Writing to hold seats in Areas 2 and 1A support classes, as well as First-Year Programs to hold seats in First Year Seminar classes.

Communications

Student Success Coaching will be the point of contact and support for incoming students, in addition to monitoring and acting on enrollment changes throughout the summer.

Enrollment

Enrollment Management Services pre-enrolls students into the appropriate Area 2 &/or Area 1A course(s) before the start of First Year Student Enrollment in November and June, with aid from Academic Scheduling.

In January and August, students who switch to Category 2 while still enrolled in their original pre-enrolled class(es) will be moved from Category 3/4 to Category 2 classes. Once that occurs, category changes will not affect their Area 2 or Area 1A class(es).

In Spring, students who pass GEW 101A in Fall are pre-enrolled into GEW 101B.

Note:
In Fall 2025, requirements B4 & A2 are referred to as Area 2 & Area 1A.
