Jessica Kohl
My role at Cal State San Marcos
As an Administrative Support Assistant in the Career Center, my role is to provide
information and referrals about Career Center services, programs and events to students,
alumni, faculty and employers. I facilitate and provide supervision to our Student
Assistants and oversee the Cougar Closet.
My career path
In 2018 I graduated from California State University, San Marcos with a Bachelor’s
Degree in Human Development with an emphasis in Counseling. Prior to transferring
to CSUSM I attended three community colleges including Palomar College. My journey
working with academic advisors caused me to become very passionate about higher education.
This is why I am thrilled to be working in a position that allows me to help others
achieve their academic and professional goals.
The rewards in doing what I do
I enjoy working with students and alumni in reaching their academic and career goals.
It is rewarding to help students find what they need and how they are maximizing the
resources the Career Center provides.
My words of wisdom to students
To see everything as an opportunity to learn and grow, and to always try to improve
yourself. Never be afraid to ask question when you don’t know something and seek help
when you need it.
In my free time
During my free time I enjoy listening to music, reading, going on hikes, and enjoying some quiet time.
