Online After School Programming
During Fall 2020, we are excited to offer six-week online STEM afterschool programming between September 28th and November 9th. Students at different school sites will meet online with a group of highly qualified CSUSM undergraduate students (3 to 5 at each school site) to think, design, and create solutions to real-world problems using technology tools. Each co-design session will last about 1 hour each week. A CSUSM administrator and a school staff will be present at each session to monitor the session.
Program Enrollment
If you signed up for our program at your school site, you should have received: (1) the dates for each session, (2) a Zoom link for the meetings (we will use the same link for all sessions at a school site), and (3) a passcode to join the zoom meeting.
Structure of Each Session
Each session will include a short community building activity followed by an introduction of a design challenge informed by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals that identify global challenges we face such as poverty, hunger, climate change, environmental degradation, etc. Students then will brainstorm ideas for a solution and learn to use a technology tool to enact their solutions in small groups in breakout rooms. Finally, students will get together as a whole group to share and reflect on their designs and learning. Students will be encouraged to continue to work on their designs and share it on FlipGrid before the next session.
