What does this experience mean to you and how is it connected to your career goals?
From my roots at Laney Community College in Oakland, CA to my time at CSUSM, my academic journey solidified my identity as a lifelong learner and guided me toward my dream career. I am deeply grateful to the mentors and community who believed in me; the research, community building, and guidance were essential to my growth. Special thanks to Dr. Jameson, Dr. Read, and Dr. Luna Lopez for empowering me as a researcher in microbiology and immunology, and helping unify those fields with my passion for engineering. Embracing this interdisciplinary approach deepened my work ethic. Additionally, O-STEM, CRIM-COMPASS, and the NSF-REU were instrumental in building my confidence as a scientist. As I step into the future, I will deeply appreciate all I learned during my transformative time at CSUSM.
