Diverse Learning Environments Survey
The DLE is a national survey conducted by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA. It is designed to capture student perceptions regarding the institutional climate, learning outcomes, and campus practices as experienced with faculty, staff, and peers. Diverse student populations are at the center of the survey, and the instrument is based on studies of diverse student bodies and the complexity of issues that range from student mobility to intergroup relations.
CSUSM participated in the DLE for the first time in Spring 2015. Results of the survey will contribute to ongoing efforts to assess campus climate, undergraduate learning outcomes, and progress of the Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan. While historically the survey was administered biennially to sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors, for the Spring 2019 DLE administration, the survey was administered to all students enrolled in a degree, credential, or certificate program in order to be inclusive of a broader population of students.
