University Village Housing and Dining (UVHD) - In Progress

The University Student Housing and Dining project will act as a catalyst for the University’s transition from a commuter school to a first-choice destination.  The project site is located on the current Parking Lot O next to the UVA student apartments at the corner of Campus View Drive and Campus Way. The building will be approximately 137,000 sf and house about 555 students once completed. The three wings of the residential building (127,000 sf) will be linked to shared study, gathering, and social spaces on each floor with laundry and other amenities on the ground floor. The project includes indoor/outdoor dining facility (10,000 sf) to serve all students, faculty, and staff. Outdoor courtyards will create connection spaces between student housing and dining and provide outdoor space for studying, relaxing, activities, and events.  The roughly $126M project is funded by the State’s Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program and CSU Systemwide Revenue Bonds. The intent of the project is to provide affordable student housing for low-income students, improve student graduation rates, and support student success. The Project is aligned with the CSUSM Strategic Plan’s vision of diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence.

Construction is scheduled to begin early Spring 2024. Please check back for project updates.
