Pi Sigma Alpha

The Political Science and Global Affairs Department would like to invite you to review your eligibility—and if you meet the criteria—to apply for membership to the Alpha Beta Kappa Chapter of the prestigious Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honors Society. You do not need to be a Political Science or Global Studies major or minor to apply.
Requirements:
  • Completing 60 semester-credits at the time of application.
  • Completed 10 semester credits in political science courses at the time of application
  • Achieving an average 3.3 GPA or higher in political science courses.
  • Achieved an overall GPA in the top one-third of whole class.
Founded in 1920, Pi Sigma Alpha is the only college-level honors society for scholars of political science and government affairs. Today, Pi Sigma Alpha chapters thrive on 850 campuses across the United States and membership is recognized as a symbol of academic excellence. Alpha Beta Kappa is the CSUSM chapter.
As a member of Pi Sigma Alpha Honors Society and the Alpha Beta Kappa Chapter, you have the opportunity to engage in and plan campus and extra-curricular activities that promote academic excellence, student research activities, and scholarly success (examples include scholarly presentations on campus, attending the honors society student research conference, or planning an induction ceremony). You also earn the right to wear regalia items such as an honor cord, medallion, or lapel pin during commencement. These symbols allow you to be recognized for your outstanding academic record. Membership is an important honor to list on your resume or other applications and is nationally recognized as a mark of excellence in political science. You would be joining a network of peers and well-known dignitaries in political science and government affairs.

Deadlines for applying:
Fall Semester: November 1-15
Spring Semester March 1-15
