Culminating Experience

Upon completion of all necessary coursework, and of having fulfilled the foreign language requirement, all applicants to the Masters of Arts in Spanish will be Advanced to Candidacy. At that point, the student must complete his or her culminating experience.

The candidate has two choices in as far as his or her Option: to write a Research Paper on a topic pertaining to said option, or to take an Exam on his or her Option.

If the candidate opts for the research paper, the topic MUST be selected in close consultation with a faculty member who is an expert in the field. He/she will be the Director, who, in turn, will be working with another colleague in said committee. The paper must be a minimum of 25 pages and a maximum of 35.

Both the Option Exam and the Research Paper are to be turned in electronically (in pdf format), and will be housed in the department.
