Introduction

Kathleen Watson is a professor of management and organizational behavior at California State University San Marcos. Dr. Watson received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Utah. She joined the faculty at CSUSM in 1992; previously she served on the faculty at Butler University and Indiana University.

Her current research interests include interpersonal communication and new venture development. Her research is published in outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Academy of Management Review, and Journal of Management. She has done consulting and training work for hospitals and major corporations. Some activities include the design of a performance appraisal system for a large Indiana hospital, and training in effective customer service for a San Diego hospital and for AT&T.
