Online Application

Applications are now open for the August 2023 - July 2025 Internship Year.

The application is open from Monday January 23, 2023 until Sunday, May 25, 2023 at 11:59 PM.

What to expect after submitting your application?- Applications will be reviewed soon after the closing date of May 25, 2023. Interview invitations will be sent by May 31, 2023 with the interview date and time. Interviews will be conducted during the first or second week of June. Notification of acceptance into the internship program will be sent out by June 30, 2023.

You need to have all your necessary application documents ready before you begin the application.
You will not be able to save and return to the application at a later time.

Eligibility Requirements 

  • You must be a full-time student enrolled at CSUSM at the time of the internship
  • You must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Biotechnology or Biology at the time of the internship
  • You must be 18 years of age by the start of the internship
  • You must be eligible to work full-time in the United States during the entire duration of the internship (Note: If you qualify under DACA provisions, please reach out to our program coordinator Dr. Sujal Phadke (sphadke@csusm.edu) to confirm your eligibility).

Components of the Application

  • Personal Statement describing why you are interested in this internship, your level of knowledge in biotechnology research and your interest in regenerative medicine.
  • An updated Curriculum Vitae or Resumé, no more than 1 page.
  • A copy of unofficial/official transcripts for high school and all colleges attended.
  • One letter of recommendation is required. Ideally, the letter should be from a faculty member that can attest to your abilities in a laboratory setting. You will need the name and e-mail for the people you are requesting letters from for the application. Please contact your letter writer prior to submitting the application and make them aware that they will receive an automated request for the letter. The letters will be directly sent to the program coordinator as mentioned at the application link below.
  • name(s) of the faculty mentor(s) with whom you would like to work (Options: Kim, Luna-Lopez, Jancovich, Jameson, Mothé) 

Need help preparing your application?- A writing workshop will be conducted in on Feb 17th 2023 between 10:00 AM and 12 PM in Science Hall 2 Rm 135a to help applicants prepare their application materials.
