Summer Research Opportunities
|CSUSM NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates||
This is a 10-week long program on our campus, and offers $5750 in stipend, $350 in travel costs for out-of-region participants, free on-campus housing, and a modest per diem. The program is open to Undergraduate students in the biological sciences/related field, who are US citizens/permanent residents, with a strong academic record. The NSF REU students will be trained in genomics/bioinformatics, and be placed with one of 10 participating faculty in the biological sciences, and take part in several career-enhancing activities, including a poster session to present their summer research, field-trips to UC Riverside & Illumina, and building their research portfolios towards graduate school applications.

|The Leadership Alliance (SR-EIP)||Offers undergraduates, interested in pursuing a PhD or MD/PhD, the opportunity to work for eight to ten weeks under the guidance of a faculty or research mentor at a participating Alliance institution.|

The MAP is a two-year summer internship program designed to nurture the educational and career growth of future scientists. It is open to undergraduate students from underrepresented minority groups, and offers professional development activities and training in top-notch endocrine research labs.
