Detailed below are the courses that will be taken in the SLP Prep Certificate program.
Students who apply and complete all the SLP Prep Cohort Program courses will receive a University Speech-Language Pathology Preparation Certificate of Completion on their official transcript.

Please note: Students in the cohort must earn a B- or higher in each course to earn the certificate.
ASHA Basic Science Requirements
In accordance with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) 2020 certification standards (standard IV-A), applicants must have demonstrated knowledge in the following areas through academic coursework. The CSUSM prerequisite courses identified above in BOLD satisfy each of the ASHA coursework requirements.
- Biological Sciences: Human or animal biology
- Physical sciences: Physics or Chemistry
- Social/behavioral sciences, and
- Statistics: stand alone, NOT research methods
