Detailed below are the courses that will be taken in the SLP Prep Program. For students who are not members of the SLP Prep Cohort and wish to enroll in SLP Prep courses via Open University, Summer 2025 courses will open on April 30, 2025. If there is availability in the class, students can enroll by following the CSUSM Open University Enrollment Process.

ASHA Basic Science Requirements
In accordance with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) 2020 certification standards (standard IV-A), applicants must have demonstrated knowledge in the following areas through academic coursework. The CSUSM prerequisite courses identified above in BOLD satisfy each of the ASHA coursework requirements.
- Biological Sciences: Human or animal biology
- Physical sciences: Physics or Chemistry
- Social/behavioral sciences, and
- Statistics: stand alone, NOT research methods
