It is a pleasure to select Anastasia Zacky as the 2022 recipient of the Dean of Students Leadership Award. She will graduate this May with Honors with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

Anastasia has made lasting contributions to student life at Cal State San Marcos through her many involvements which include: Cougar Pantry intern, Orientation Team Leader, event programmer/student coordinator with USULive!, onboarding a new sorority (Gamma Phi Beta) as Panhellenic Affairs Vice President, and most recently, as Chapter President. Additionally, she was the recipient of Outstanding Sophomore Student of the Year Award for her dedication to the CSUSM community. Currently, she is also interning at the North County Superior Court in the Family Law Facilitator's Office.

Ms. Zacky’s impact on our students and campus community is evident by her impressive on my first day of the job was now the busiest and most involved student I knew, and she thrived. To be so involved in campus requires a lot of time management, the ability to balance responsibilities, and the need to communicate clearly and effectively. She always made sure her grades were a priority, she attended and worked every USU Live event (even if they were not her own) and she dedicated herself to various volunteer opportunities that make this campus the special place it is.” Finding a home for herself at CSUSM, and the importance of helping others feel connected and welcomed—to find their home--was also important. She believes leadership is about community, making others feel a part of something, and creating an inclusive and welcoming environment even in the midst of a pandemic.

Please join us in congratulating Anastasia as the 2022 Dean of Students Leadership Award recipient.
