This office functions as the administrative home for several projects that focus on student and faculty career development and institutional curriculum enhancement in the natural sciences, behavioral sciences, math and other related disciplines. We are committed to increasing diversity in science and academia, and to making CSUSM the institution of choice for students and faculty interested in the sciences. We look forward to working with faculty and students across the campus.
The Office for Training, Research and Education in the Sciences (OTRES) is recruiting
students for the U-RISE at CSUSM Program. The goal of U-RISE is to increase diversity
in research careers by offering a broad range of activities aimed at helping students
prepare for doctoral programs in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.
We are particularly interested in recruiting students from diverse groups who show promise for success in graduate studies and careers in research. We expect to recruit up to 10 students who plan to graduate in spring of 2023. Priority will be given to students who are already working in research, however we will consider high achieving students who have not yet joined a research lab. Students will receive a stipend and other incentives, and participate intensively, over 2 years, in activities that will help them prepare for success in doctoral programs and beyond.
Please submit an application and/or encourage others who are interested to submit an application. We will begin reviewing applications by May 1 and will be accepting students on a rolling basis so please make sure applications are complete by May 1: https://www.csusm.edu/otres/riseprogram/otresprogramspdffillable.pdf
