Requesting a Unit Relocation or Room Swap
We understand that students’ needs and living environments can change throughout the year. A room relocation allows students to move to a different housing unit for reasons such as cost considerations, roommate conflicts, or documented medical accommodations. Please note that relocations are based on space availability and include a $200 room relocation fee. Please note that relocations are not guaranteed, and are based on availability, waitlists, and priority accommodations.
Room relocation requests are accepted beginning the third week of classes each semester. For incoming Fall semester students, requests must be submitted prior to being assigned a move-in time. Housing does not consider requests for room relocations after this time.
Steps for Requesting a Relocation
- Discuss with Your Community Advisor (CA) and Community Director (CD):
Before submitting a relocation form, students must first meet with their CA and CD. They will help address any concerns, explore possible solutions such as mediation, and provide guidance on whether a relocation request is appropriate. - Submit the Relocation Form:
After meeting with your CA and CD, complete and submit the official relocation request form provided by Housing & Residential Education. - Review and Verification:
The Housing team will contact your CA and CD to verify the details provided on your form. - Processing Time:
Relocation requests are reviewed based on space availability and priority considerations. The process typically takes 1 to 3 weeks. - Approval & Next Steps:
If approved, the Housing team will provide you with instructions for moving, payment of the relocation fee, and your new housing assignment details.
