Orientation is a fee-based program, meaning that without the fee we could not offer this service to our new students and families. When students create an Orientation reservation in MyCSUSM, the student's account will automatically be charged with an Orientation fee. Students must pay the Orientation fee in full by the tuition & fee payment deadline along with tuition and other CSUSM fees. Please do not make this payment prior to reserving an Orientation date.
If you would like to cancel your Orientation reservation, you must contact the New Student & Family Programs office at least one week (5 business days) prior to your scheduled Orientation date in order to receive a refund. Please note that fees cannot be refunded after you have already attended an Orientation session, despite any changes in your admissions status or choosing not to attend the university. If you no longer plan on attending CSUSM, please contact BOTH Admissions at email@example.com and Orientation at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.

What does my fee cover?
Your Orientation fee covers the logistical costs associated with the programs and services of New Student Onboarding, Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, Family Programs, Orientation Team, and Transfer Success Initiatives.

While orientation fee waivers are not available, your financial aid award can help pay the orientation fee. When you sign up for orientation, the fee is added to your account balance. If you are receiving enough aid to cover the fee, it will be paid along with the rest of your tuition and fees when your financial aid award is disbursed. The orientation fee is not due until the tuition & fee deadline in August.
