New Student Orientation
Welcome to CSUSM
Congratulations on your admission to California State University San Marcos! Orientation is a critical component to a successful transition to CSUSM. At Orientation, you will have the chance to hear from fellow incoming students, attend information sessions about your college, and more!
As a result of participating in Orientation, students will:
- Experience a sense of belonging in the CSUSM Cougar Community, participate in campus traditions and rituals, and demonstrate campus pride.
- Articulate a minimum of five existing academic success, wellness, and co-curricular resources and how to access them.
- Understand the importance of involvement during the collegiate experience and will
be introduced to the Co-Curricular Model.

Dates: Summer 2023 Orientation will take place in June, July, and August before the beginning of the Fall Semester. Available dates vary for each student depending on major and will be listed in MyCSUSM when the reservation system opens.
Family Orientations run concurrently to student sessions and are offered on select First Year Orientation dates. Reservations for up to 2 guests per student are permitted. We also offer Spanish-Speaking Family Orientations on select dates throughout the summer.
Rescheduling and Cancellations: Any changes to your Orientation reservation must be made at least 1 week prior to your scheduled session by calling (760) 750-4930 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Students with disabilities who would like to attend Orientation: Please contact New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) by phone at (760) 750-4930 or email at email@example.com regarding any special accommodation needs. It is requested that individuals requiring auxiliary aids such as closed captioning, sign language interpreters, or alternative format materials notify NSFP at least seven working days in advance. Every reasonable effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations in an effective and timely manner.
Enrolling in Courses: At CSUSM, all students self-enroll in their courses. You are expected to self-enroll into your courses on your assigned enrollment appointment date, which you can view in your Student Center on MyCSUSM. There is no course enrollment at Orientation. If you do not attend an Orientation session, your courses will be dropped and you will have an opportunity to register again on the first day of the semester. If you need to reschedule your Orientation, call our office at (760) 750-4930 prior to missing your Orientation session.
