Spring 2021 Orientation

Congratulations on your admission to California State University San Marcos! Orientation is a critical component to a successful transition to CSUSM.  At Orientation, you will have the chance to hear from fellow transfer students, attend information sessions about your college, and more!

Reservation Timeline

November 16, 2021: Orientation reservations open on MyCSUSM 

How to make an Orientation Reservation

  1. Submit your Intent to Enroll (24-hour processing period once submitted).
  2. Log in to MyCSUSM and select Orientation Reservation from the Student Self-Service box on the home page. 
    1. If you do not see any available dates, please call our office at (760) 750-4930 or email us at orientation@csusm.edu.
    2. Please Note: If you attempt to sign up for Orientation before the system opens, you will see a message saying you are not eligible for Orientation. Please check back after the system opens on November 16, 2021.
  3. Pay the registration fee.

Orientation Details

Dates: Orientation will take place in June before the beginning of the Fall Semester. Available dates will be listed in MyCSUSM when the reservation system opens.

Rescheduling & Cancellations: Any changes to your Orientation reservation must be made at least 1 week prior to your scheduled session by calling (760)750-4930 or emailing orientation@csusm.edu. If you would like to cancel your reservation, please review the Cancellation & Refund Policy.

Students with disabilities who would like to attend Orientation: Please contact New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) by phone at (760) 750-4930 or email at orientation@csusm.edu regarding any special accommodation needs. It is requested that individuals requiring auxiliary aids such as closed captioning , sign language interpreters, or alternative format materials notify NSFP at least seven working days in advance. Every reasonable effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations in an effective and timely manner.

Enrolling in Courses: At CSUSM, all students self-enroll in their courses. You are expected to self-enroll into your courses on your assigned enrollment appointment date, which you can view in your Student Center on MyCSUSM. There is no course enrollment at Orientation. If you do not attend an Orientation session, your courses will be dropped and you will have an opportunity to register again on the first day of the semester. If you need to reschedule your Orientation, call our office at (760)750-4930 prior to missing your Orientation session.

The Virtual Student Handbook is available to you as a resource before, during, and after orientation! The handbook is full of useful information about CSUSM. An accessible PDF version of the handbook is also available.

Enrolling in Classes

Need help with choosing your classes? Complete the New Student Enrollment Tutorial! You can also connect with an Academic Advisor after June 1st, 2021 if you have already completed the tutorial and still have questions.

Online Transfer Student Community

After Orientation, check your ORNT 15 course on Cougar Courses for resources to support your successful transition to CSUSM. This Online Transfer Student Community is a great opportunity to engage with fellow transfer students and learn of CSUSM campus tips and resources. Log in to your Cougar Courses and engage today!
