Delta Omega Honorary Society - Epsilon Tau Chapter
Founded in 1924 at Johns Hopkins University and boasting 130+ chapters nationwide, Delta Omega promotes the graduate study of public health and recognizes outstanding achievement in this field. Members – students, faculty, alumni, or honorary - are inducted through a highly selective process that assesses their outstanding performance and devotion to the field of public health. Delta Omega members enjoy a number of benefits, including leadership development, a nationwide member network, and publication opportunities. As the Epsilon Tau chapter, we nominate and induct members into the Society every Spring and Fall at our Public Health Graduation Celebrations.
In addition to inducting new members, Delta Omega chapters organize and participate in various events and activities, including community service events, mentorship programs, sponsoring public health-focused drives (e.g. food donations, blood donations, flu shots, etc.), public health speaker series, and member meetings. Participating in Delta Omega activities – as inductees, students, alumni, or community members – can be a vital contribution to the development of the field as a whole and a way to strengthen our connections with each other as public health colleagues and further our service to our communities.
Eligibility
While there are no hard-and-fast eligibility criteria for Delta Omega nominations, the selection committee must give particular attention to academic excellence and professional commitment to the field of public health. To demonstrate excellence and commitment, graduate and undergraduate students can:
- Maintain a high GPA
- Engage with GoPH or other student organizations related to public health
- Demonstrate commitment to the field over the course of their internship
- Demonstrate professional commitment to the field by working in public health
