Academics

Study Communication. Understand Media. Engage the World.

Our curriculum is designed around the idea that understanding today's world requires both strong communication skills and critical media literacy.

Students begin by building foundations in communication theory, media studies, research, and critical analysis before exploring topics such as interpersonal communication, organizational communication, digital media, media criticism, rhetoric, culture, health communication, public communication, journalism, and strategic communication.

Throughout the program, students learn to analyze messages, evaluate media systems, conduct research, create effective communication, solve complex problems, and engage diverse audiences. Classroom learning is strengthened through internships, collaborative projects, undergraduate research, community-engaged learning, and creative practice.

Faculty advisors work closely with students to design academic pathways that reflect their interests and career goals, whether they are preparing for graduate study, professional careers, or creative industries.

Our goal is not simply to help students earn a degree—it is to prepare graduates who understand how communication and media influence the world and how they can participate thoughtfully, ethically, and creatively within it.
