Communication and Media Open Doors.

We believe communication and media shape lives because they shape how people connect, collaborate, create, and understand the world.

Communication & Media Studies graduates build careers across industries where strong communication, media literacy, creativity, and strategic thinking are essential. Our alumni work in public relations, marketing, journalism, digital media, content creation, entertainment, corporate communication, healthcare, nonprofit leadership, government, education, social media strategy, public affairs, and organizational leadership.

Throughout the program, students develop highly transferable skills in writing, speaking, research, collaboration, media analysis, storytelling, digital communication, critical thinking, and audience engagement. Through internships, community partnerships, faculty mentorship, and applied learning, students graduate prepared to adapt to evolving technologies, changing media environments, and diverse workplaces.

A degree in Communication & Media Studies prepares graduates not only for their first job, but for careers that require curiosity, creativity, ethical leadership, and lifelong learning.

Paid Positions 

The Aparment Company 
This is a paid, 90-day Social Media Internship paying $20 per hour, with an established schedule of 2:30–6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for a total of 20 hours per week.  

Marketing Opportunity
Start-up company that sells a shoe accessory primarily for Converse shoes looking for marketing help.

Academic Internships

San Diego Voice & Viewpoint Internship
Content Creator/Journalism internship.  The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint is San Diego's largest African-American publication.  It has a print readership of over 15,000 weekly.  

San Diego Futures Foundation Internship
Social Media Management internship for the San Diego Futures Foundation nonprofit organization.  Two internships available.

DEEP San Diego Internship
DEEP San Diego is a nonprofit organization which improves literacy outcomes in southeastern San Diego.  This is a community storytelling and video production internship.
