Nessa is a master's student in the biological science program. She works in Dr. James Kezos' Drosophila lab and will be investigating which neurons influence the pacemaker region of the heart. Outside of school, she has two playful pups that she spends most of her time with.

I am currently a junior at CSUSM, pursuing my bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Biological Sciences, with the goal of becoming a physician assistant. Originally from South Carolina, this is my second year as a transfer student. I love all things related to nutrition, movement, and overall wellness. In my free time, I love reading, going to the beach, and trying new coffee shops.

I received a B.S. in Kinesiology with a minor in Nutrition from the University of Utah and love anything that has to do with movement. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, knitting, baking, and experimenting with new recipes. I also love trying new restaurants and coffee shops around the area!

Youssef is a Cellular and Molecular Biology major at CSUSM. Before coming to CSUSM, he studied medicine at Tanta University in Egypt and gained clinical experience at Tanta University Hospitals, where he observed patient care in the emergency department. Passionate about medicine and serving others, Youssef hopes to pursue a career as a physician. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, table tennis, and volleyball, as well as spending time with family and friends.

I have previously struggled with chemistry, and I understand how daunting the subject can be. However, I am here to help out in any way I can and to support everyone throughout the semester. After graduating, I want to go to medical school to become an emergency room doctor. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, going on walks with my dog, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and playing video games. Let's have a great semester!

Kristin is a fourth-year student at CSUSM, majoring in Psychological Science with a minor in Criminology & Justice Studies. She is a student-athlete on the CSUSM Track & Field team. She is actively involved in psychological research in Dr. Rosas' lab, with interests in clinical psychology, mental health, and the relationship between psychology, neuroscience, and the legal system. After completing her undergraduate degree, Kristin plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Outside of academics and athletics, Kristin enjoys painting, going to the beach, and thrifting.

She is currently a research assistant in Dr. Sherafat's neurobiology of addiction lab, which focuses on investigating the effects of nicotine in mice. She is a URISE scholar and is hoping to get her PhD in neuroscience in the future. She enjoys reading, dancing, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog, Sadie.
