Demiana Hanna, SI Mentor

Demiana is a fourth-year student majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She is in Dr. Jay's Lab, where she studies the structure and function of proteins involved in the formation of bacterial curli. Demiana is also the Vice President of Unheard Cries, a philanthropic club that aims to provide humanitarian support, raise awareness, and allocate resources to underserved communities in the Middle East. Passionate about medicine and service, Demiana aspires to become a pediatric emergency medicine physician. In her free time, she enjoys running, going to the gym, or spending time with her family.

Nessa is a master's student in the biological science program. She works in Dr. James Kezos' Drosophila lab and will be investigating which neurons influence the pacemaker region of the heart. Outside of school, she has two playful pups that she spends most of her time with.

I originally became a kinesiology major because my favorite subject in high school was human anatomy, and now I've learned so much more cool stuff. I love my major and enjoy collaborating with others.

Rayne is a fourth-year Kinesiology (Health Science) major with a minor in Public Health. After discovering her passion for public health over traditional healthcare, she is currently exploring potential career paths in the field, including epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, and occupational health. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sleeping, junk journaling/scrapbooking, playing video games, and spending time with her friends.

My name is Kayla Wrathall. I am a fourth year majoring in Biotech and minoring in Psychology and Chemistry. I want to go to medical school to become an Emergency Room doc. This is my first semester as an SI, but I have been tutoring at the STEM Success Center for six semesters and was a Learning Assistant for CHEM 150 during the fall and spring semesters of 2023. I LOVE running and am on the cross country and track team at CSUSM. During my free time, I like to go to coffee shops, play my guitar, and be outside in nature. I’m looking forward to a great semester!

Alyssa is a 2nd-year student planning on achieving a bachelor’s in Business Management. She currently has another job in which she works with kids who have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). As an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician), she does ABA therapy with kids who have ASD and constantly strives to help improve their behaviors and communication skills. She also loves the beach, music, and dogs!

I’m very passionate about working with children and am striving to work as an elementary SLP! When I can, I work as a substitute teacher. My passions include traveling, painting, going to the beach, and playing with my dog, Ani.
